1st Annual Sherrill Family Olympics

This year the Sherrill Family Christmas included a new twist, the 1st Annual Sherrill Family Backyard Olympics. This years events included the three legged race, the wheelbarrow race, the egg carrying race, the crab walk and others. All who participated did a great jobs and I have a feeling this afternoon won't be forgotten anytime soon!

Christmas Day at Ron's

The remainder of Christmas Day was spent at Josh's Uncle Ron's house. This is the Sherrill side of the family and always includes lots of fun and smiles.

Christmas Morning at the Dome

Christmas morning was lots of fun, with lots of presents. Josh and I are both very thankful to everyone who got us presents, it was much appreciated!! Even thought we weren't in PA for Christmas we did have a pile of presents under the fireplace (a.k.a. the folded up treadmill). Then it was out to share the holiday with Justin, Gail and Hugh. The morning ended with a very delicious breakfast with Grandmother and plenty of Wii playing.

Gingerbread Cookies at the Dome

The Sherrill's have a long history of gingerbread cookie making and decorating and when it is a North Carolina Christmas, this tradition isn't forgotten. We cut out and decorated lots of cookies on Christmas Eve before heading to church!

Hike at Crowders Mountain

On Christmas Eve, Vinny and I went for a hike at Crowders Mountain State Park (just around the corner from the Sherrill's) while Josh went for a run at the park as well. Vinny and I had a great time hitting the trail and getting some cold air in our longs. I had forgotten what it was like to get the blood pumping in the cold air!!

Happy things....

I had two very heartwarming things happen to me in the last two days, both unexpected but both the perfect thing to put a smile on anyone's face. The first was the delivery of a very beautiful bouquet of flowers from a very special friend (aka my mom), reminding me that this is in fact my 25th Christmas on this earth, wow, can you believe it? The second came from a complete stranger. We were waiting in the pew today to leave church and a little boy (maybe six or so) looks at me and says "Excuse me, I just wanted to tell you, you're pretty." He made my day, to say the least!

Gaga Sue's Christmas

With this year being a North Carolina Christmas, that means a Gaga Sue Christmas gathering. We gather at the church and have lots of great fun, socializing and an annual reading of the Christmas story. The reading and reenactment has happened for years, with the actors changing but the story always the same, the true reason for the season. This year we had a very cute crew, and Josh even got to be the narrator. In case you couldn't tell, Baby Jesus is the one in the reindeer bib.
